SUBTRACTION SERIES Acrylic on Canvas 2022-2023
The Subtraction Series is a collection of paintings made using a reductive painting process. I coat each canvas with heavy, wet layers of paint, then carve back into the works with hand-made rubber tools. The carving happens in rapid, intuitive gestures. The process is spontaneous and expressive, but it’s also done with a degree of precision and control. The finished paintings embody this sense of disciplined chaos.
