SUBTRACTION SERIES Selected Works Acrylic on Canvas 2022-2024
The Subtraction Series uses a reductive painting process. Each canvas is coated with heavy, wet layers of acrylic, then carved back using hand-made rubber tools. The process is physical and intuitive, with rapid, gestural marks that remove rather than add material. I'm drawn to the paradox that elimination can be an act of creation, and to the dimensionality and complexity that emerges through this kind of removal. The finished surfaces hold a tension between spontaneity and control. Complete series available on request.
