MACHINE SERIES Ink on Paper 2018-2019
This series of drawings was created during my time as a student at Leeds College of Art, where I explored unconventional approaches to mark-making using a large vinyl cutter as my primary drawing tool. I experimented with different types of pens and papers, even feeding wrinkled or damp paper through the machine. Adjusting the cutter’s speed and force produced varied, often unpredictable marks, sometimes at the cost of destroying my drawing tools. Alongside these physical experiments, I developed digital processes to create intricate, linear compositions—designs with a level of precision beyond what a human hand could achieve. This series also includes four unique pieces made by mounting paper onto a lathe.
