EXCAVATIONS Selected Works Acrylic on Canvas Ongoing
Excavations explores the sculptural possibilities of paint. Each work is built up in thick, textured layers, then scraped, carved, and sanded back to reveal what's hidden beneath. Inspired by geological formations and extraction sites, the process feels closer to sculpture than painting, with the focus on the space perpendicular to the canvas rather than across it. As with much of my practice, the work is rooted in material experimentation and the outcomes are never fully planned. The colour interactions in particular have been a surprise, pulling me toward combinations I wouldn't normally reach for. Complete series available on request.
