RESONANCE SERIES Dye and Bleach on Linen 2020-2021
The Resonance Series is made by dying and discharging colour from loose linen. I begin with treating these works as as a textile, submerging or partially submerging the linen into buckets of dye or diluted bleach. The surface designs are done using hand-made tools constructed from dowels, string and felt. I dip the tools into dye or bleach, then either drag them along the loose fabric or press them against the surface. The surface patterns are stamped, or block printed, meticulously line by line.
